The Multimedia Studio and the room's reservation system will open to UCSB affiliates in January 2025.

The Arts Library Multimedia Studio (Room 1402) provides access to high-quality equipment for podcast and video/interview recording and for group listening. It is located in the Sara Miller McCune Arts Library space on the 1st floor, Mountain Side.

Arts Library Multimedia Studio Guidelines for Use

  • The Arts Library Multimedia Studio (“Studio”) is available for UCSB students, faculty and staff. The maximum number of people in the Studio at any time is 4.
  • ​The Studio is intended for podcast and video/interview recording, as well as group listening. It is equipped with a podcast mixing console, multidirectional microphone and stand (x3), pop filter, video camera and tripod (x3), CD player, LP player, speakers, headphones (x4), Mac computer. See below for the full list of equipment.
  • Reservations for the Studio may be made online 2 weeks in advance and for up to 4 hours per day, up to 8 hours per week. 
  • The Studio may not be used for instruction, office hours, standing meetings, or general study. If you need a study room, please reserve or drop-in to a Group Study Room.
  • You must bring proof of confirmation to claim your reservation for the Studio (such as a printout, saved email, or screenshot). Scan your Access Card at the door to gain access to the Multimedia Studio. 
  • Library furniture or equipment may not be moved in or out of the Studio.
  • Users should clean up after themselves and leave the area in good condition, including turning off all audio/video equipment, logging-out of the computer, and wiping down headphones (wipes provided immediately outside the rooms).
  • Please maintain reasonable noise levels and keep the door closed at all times. This room is not fully soundproofed. It is intended for spoken word audio/video recording or listening only. Users recording live music, either vocal or instrumental, will be asked to vacate the Studio.
  • The Library is not responsible for the loss or theft of personal property. Do not leave your belongings unattended.
  • Failure to follow Studio guidelines may result in users being asked to leave the area or the Library and/or in the loss of reservation privileges.
  • If your plans change, please cancel your reservation so others can use the Studio.
  • Food or drink are not allowed in the Studio.
