The UCSB Library is pleased to announce that starting March 1, 2023, UCSB employees no longer need to come to the Library Services Desk in person to activate their Library cards/accounts before being able to use Library services. The Library now receives a regularly-updated data feed to our Integrated Library System that provides the necessary employee information. Library cards will automatically be activated for all new UCSB employees, including new emeriti. Your UCSB Access ID card functions as your Library card.

A new Collaborate Student Support Center Helpdesk location is now open at UCSB Library, in time for the start of the Spring quarter.  It is located in the Library Paseo next to the Services Desk and its staff can provide walk-up support for technology questions.

With campus resuming in-class instruction, the Library is returning to regular hours and open to all patrons, including visitors. 

We continue to require proof of a green COVID-19 clearance badge from anyone wishing to access the building. Users still must enter through the Mountain Entrance and exit through Paseo West to better facilitate badge checking.
