*Skofield, Hobart. Skofield, longtime resident of Santa Barbara, earlier was associated with the William Rudge printing firm. He was a consultant with Special for many years and helped to develop its collections. Special has the Skofield Printers Collection, with about 20,000 volumes relating to printing, typography, the history of writing and the book, fine presses, small presses, and especially California presses. Most of the items printed/published in Santa Barbara are located here. Special also has nearly 40 manuscript collections, including those of Skofield and Rudge.
