Alan Grosenheider

UC Santa Barbara has appointed Alan Grosenheider Interim University Librarian, effective August 1, 2024. Kristin Antelman retired as University Librarian at the end of July after serving in the role for six years. The University has begun a national search for the next University Librarian and formed a search advisory committee.

Grosenheider has served as Deputy University Librarian at UCSB since August 2012, providing leadership and program oversight of Library activities associated with promoting overall Library effectiveness, as well as serving as the proxy for the University Librarian. He previously assumed the role of Acting University Librarian in 2017-18.

Prior to coming to UCSB, Grosenheider held roles of increasing responsibility in the libraries of the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa and the University of Washington. He earned a BA in philosophy with minors in psychology and history from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, a master’s in library and information science from the University of Washington, and a master’s in human resource management from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa.
