Conservator Christina Romanowski Bean will offer free assessments of personal papers and photographs damaged during the Montecito mud and debris flow incident, and connect attendees with conservation resources and professional services.

- Please bring paper documents, books, and photographs only – no objects.
- If an item is still wet, place it into 2 plastic bags and freeze it immediately to prevent mold. Remove items from the freezer (but keep them in their bags) to defrost the night before the assessment. Bring them with you in a Tupperware or waterproof carrier bag.
- Assessments may take up to 30 minutes per family.
- Assessment does not include actual treatment of items. Christina will help stabilize items, recommend treatment plans, and refer you to additional resources & specialists.
Christina Romanowski Bean has her MA in Conservation: Works of Art on Paper from the University of the Arts London and has worked for museums, libraries, and trusts around the world. She just completed a Kress Conservation Fellowship at the UCLA Library.
