Opening Event for "Lifting the Veil, or, How the Stars Aligned for Isis, Hermes, and Diana to Vanquish Satan and Usher in the Aquarian Age"
UCSB Library invites you to join us for an event to celebrate the opening of our new exhibition "Lifting the Veil, or, How the Stars Aligned for Isis, Hermes, and Diana to Vanquish Satan and Usher in the Aquarian Age."
This event will include a reception and curator tours. In addition, Philip Deslippe from the Department of Religious Studies will briefly discuss his research and use of the American Religions Collection at UCSB Library. Free and open to the public.
Philip Deslippe is an historian of American religion whose research focuses on race and immigration in American religion, “cults” and new religious movements, the American metaphysical tradition, and Asian American religions. He is currently writing a dissertation on the early history of yoga in the United States from the mid-nineteenth to mid-twentieth century.
