Join a free workshop to help you discover your path to creativity and creative expression in fostering well-being, with reference to the UCSB Reads 2024 book, Your Brain on Art: How the Arts Transform Us by Susan Magsamen and Ivy Ross. The focus will be on music and the visual arts.

Through interdisciplinary conversation, Drs. Lisa Wong and Cristina Pato, two professionals whose careers explore intersections between education, arts, sciences and humanities, will lead this interactive workshop.
Workshop leaders:
Lisa M. Wong, a distinguished pediatrician and co-founder of the Arts and Humanities Initiative at Harvard Medical School, will shed light on the intersection of arts and education in the healthcare sector.
Musician, writer and educator, Cristina Pato, whose career is focused on exploring the role of the arts in society through teaching and producing, will share her unique experiences in using the arts as a collaborative bridge between the humanities and the sciences in academic institutions. Drawing from her own collaborations with diverse communities, Cristina will explore the role that the arts can play in promoting cultural understanding.
