Find Reserve Material:
Place Items on Reserve:
(Faculty, Instructor, and TA use only)

How to Borrow Reserve Materials:

  • You must present your student ID and have an activated library account in order to check out library materials. You can activate your library account at the Circulation/Reserves Desk in the Davidson or Arts Library.
  • To check out materials give the person at the Circulation/Reserves Desk the call number of the item and your picture ID.
  • You may have on loan up to three Reserve items at a time.
  • Loan periods are either 2-hours or 1-day. At the time of checkout you will be told when an item is to be returned.
  • Materials checked out 2½ hours before closing will be due the next day 30 minutes after opening.

Penalties for Overdue Reserves:

  • The Library will block (restrict to library use only) your Reserve checkout privileges if you ...
    • are frequently late returning Reserve items OR
    • cause your classmates to miss checkouts of Reserve items.


  • Reserve fines are now $2 per hour. If you are late returning a Reserve item, you will be charged a ...
    • $2 initial fine (one minute overdue) PLUS
    • $2 per hour or any portion thereof.


    • Reserve fines are doubled during Dead Week and Finals.


  • When a Reserve Book Service item checked out to you becomes three days overdue ...
    • we will bill you for its full replacement cost (a $65 minimum fine) PLUS
    • a non-refundable $15 processing fee.


    • NO REFUNDS once a replacement copy is ordered.


  • Depriving other students by holding reserve materials overdue is a violation of Student Conduct and Discipline Policies Section 102.13a (obstruction or disruption of teaching, research, administration, disciplinary procedures, or other University activities). In such events, the Dean of Students and the course professor may be given the name of the offender.
