The UC Libraries have launched a potential replacement for the Melvyl Catalog. We encourage you to test this pilot, called Next-Generation Melvyl, and offer feedback via the link at the bottom of its page.
Some key points:
The existing Melvyl catalog is not going away!
Throughout the pilot, the current Melvyl Catalog and all its functionality will be maintained and available as usual.
Note: not all current library holdings are represented in the pilot.
Through a single interface Next-Generation Melvyl searches holdings in:
all UC Libraries
libraries around the world
UC books digitized by Google
Results display UCSB records first, then UC records, then records from other libraries worldwide.
Users can request items held elsewhere, both within the UC system and beyond.
